We also accept dinner reservations. Hotel Mundal serves a hearty three-course meal every 19:30 (7:30 PM).

Lunch is served at Café Mikkel. Our café also serves homemade pastries and cakes.
Café Mikkel opens on the 22nd of June.

TRADITION AND NATURE

The majestic Hotel Mundal in Fjærland is a unique example of Norwegian traditional hotel from the late 1800s, and this classic ambience has stayed through the years.

When you sit in the leather chairs by the fireplace, you experience the local craftmanship of over 100 years ago. Many other towns have changed over time, but the Sogn area where Hotel Mundal sits has maintained the rare atmosphere of a book town backdropped by the fjord and glaciers.

BRINGING THE CLASSIC BACK

Several of the rooms in the hotel were refurbished in 2011. Bright wallpaper, new comfortable beds, and luxurious furnishings were installed in the rooms.

Below is a photo of our turret room where Queen Sonja of Norway has stayed in on several occasions. The room has a private balcony overlooking both the fjord and the glaciers.

THE BEST HIKING SEASON - August and September

One of the many hiking routes in Fjærland starts right outside Hotel Mundal. The astoundingly beautiful Fjellstølen deep down in Mundal Valley is just a two-hour walk from the hotel.

This is the breathtaking view up in Flatbrehytta (1000 meters above sea level).
Flatbrehytta is straddled by the Jostedalsbreen (Jostedal glacier) and Bøyabreen (Bøya glacier).

There are other routes for the daring and more adventorous.
